Terms of Use

Last updated: May 2026 · Version 1.1

Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using Serene. By accessing or using the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Serene.

1. Who May Use Serene

Serene is a general wellness app intended for personal use by adults aged 18 and over who are resident in any country. By using Serene, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18, you must not use Serene.

Serene is not intended for use by or on behalf of healthcare professionals as a clinical tool, and should not be used to inform clinical decisions about third parties.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Serene only for its intended personal wellness purposes. You must not:

  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates applicable law.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app.
  • Use the app to process data on behalf of other people without their knowledge and consent.
  • Attempt to circumvent or compromise the app's security measures.
  • Use the app's AI features to generate or disseminate misleading health information.

3. No Medical Reliance

Serene is a personal wellness, journaling, and self-tracking tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, clinical assessments, or therapeutic support of any kind. Nothing in the app should be interpreted as medical guidance.

You must not use Serene in place of consulting a qualified healthcare professional. If you are concerned about your health, please seek advice from a doctor, pharmacist, or other qualified clinician.

4. No Emergency Use

🚨 Serene must not be used in a medical or mental health emergency. In an emergency, call 999 (UK), 112, or your local emergency services immediately. Do not rely on Serene to manage, support, or provide guidance in any urgent or acute situation.

5. GLP-1 and Medication Features

The GLP-1 tracker and medication log features are scheduling and awareness tools only. They do not provide prescribing information, dosage guidance, or injection technique advice. All prescription medication decisions must be made in consultation with your prescribing clinician. The app does not verify whether the medications you enter are appropriate for you.

6. Third-Party Integrations

Serene's AI-powered nutrition search uses the OpenAI API via the Base44 platform. When you use this feature, the text of your food search query is sent to these third-party services. By using the AI nutrition feature, you consent to this data transfer. You are not required to use this feature.

Serene is not responsible for the terms, privacy practices, or data handling of third-party services. You should review the relevant third-party terms and privacy notices independently.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and features of Serene are owned by or licensed to Dr. Elif Coşkunçay. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the app or its content without prior written permission.

Your personal data and wellness entries remain yours. You own your data. The operator has no ownership claim over the content you create within the app.

8. Availability and Service Changes

Serene is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to the app. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or the app as a whole at any time. We will endeavour to provide reasonable notice of material changes where practicable.

Because your data is stored on your own device, changes to or discontinuation of the app do not affect data you have already saved locally. We recommend using the Export My Data feature periodically to keep a personal backup.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable UK law, the operator shall not be liable for:

  • Any loss or damage arising from your reliance on wellness information, AI-generated content, or data displayed in the app.
  • Any health consequences arising from your use or misuse of the app.
  • Loss of data stored on your device due to hardware failure, browser updates, or other causes outside our control.
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law. Your statutory rights as a UK consumer are not affected by these Terms.

10. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using Serene at any time. Because Serene does not require account registration and all data is stored locally, there is no formal account to delete — you can simply clear your data via Profile → Reset Local Data and stop using the app.

We reserve the right to restrict access to the app for users who misuse it or violate these Terms, where technically feasible.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that nothing prevents you from bringing proceedings in any other jurisdiction where you have statutory rights to do so as a consumer.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the Terms were last revised. Material changes will be highlighted within the app. Continued use of Serene after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
